Throughout the course you will learn a range of massage routines and styles and how to adapt them to the horse you are treating alongside the range of benefits and applications. Horse massage is not applied as a "one suits all" routine. You might be supporting your customers horse providing a deep tissue massage too , detox , maintenance or relaxation.
This training provides the skills required to work as an equine healthcare professional and is essential for those planning to deliver hands on treatment to horses as a career. The course includes the nessarsy information to understand the statutory and professional regulations that apply to equine therapy including the legal, Ethical and legal professional frame work.
Whilst the application of equine massage and manual therapy involves a very practical skillset, a sound underpinning knowledge of equine anatomy and physiology, from a cellular level through to the gross anatomy of the horse, is essential. You will study the equine anatomy in depth using a vast amount of study documents that have been produced to support you on the course.
During the course you will discuss and consider the ethical considerations of keeping, working and treating horses and look into how you can work alongside other professionals and horse owners. course will help you develop an understanding of the value, nature and application of manual massage therapies.
There are many facets of horse management that contribute to horses’ wellbeing, health and soundness which the equine practitioner must be aware of. These skills are integrated into the course delivery to ensure you are fully prepared and confident in supporting your customers.
The theoretical study of equine massage and stretching techniques provides a basis of knowledge which underpin the practical teaching provided on your in person training days. You will also create a practical skills portfolio recording additional practical hours that you achieve whilst practicing and case study work to consolidate both the theoretical and hands-on practice and application of your learning.

Course Delivery: Blended learning of on line and practical days
Entry onto the course: All applicants must have a reasonable level of experience with horses and be confident handling horses. You must have a good understanding of the English spoken langue. Ideally have 5 GCSE's or equivalent but previous learning can be applied if required from a different sector.
Assessments: Assessments are in the form of a written and a practical exam, followed by 2 case study submissions. Resits are included within the price of the course if required.
A variety of assessments will take place throughout the duration of the course to monitor the progress you have made and too test your learning and understanding. There are two methods of us checking your progress on the course including the end of unit assessments so you know how you are progressing.
Formative and Summative assessments:
Formative assessments are designed to support learning and include the tutor-marked assignments, auto-marked online multiple-choice questions (MCQs), online activities and mock practical assessments.
The Summative assessments are designed to formally assess knowledge and skills. Summative assessments include written work assignments, case studies, MCQs, literature reviews and practical hands-on assessments.
Course Syllabus:
The course includes 6 online modules covering the Equine Systems, Musculature & Kinesiology, Manage Techniques, Postural and Gait Analysis, Setting up a massage business.
Module 1: Introduction & Skeletal System
Module 2: The Systems
Module 3: Musculature & Kinesiology
Module 4: Massage Treatments
Module 5: Observations & Rehabilitation
Module 6: Business & Beyond
Practical Days: Once you have completed the modules and written assessments for the course you will be invited to book on your hands on practical element which will consist of a weeks intensive training block or five separate dates where you will learn the hands on massage techniques and routines on a verity of horses.
Completion : Provided all assessments are successfully passed you will qualify as Equine Sports Massage Therapist, enabling you to gain insurance and professional accreditation.
This course is detailed and supported to enable you to achieve and be confident in carrying out Equine Massage as a career and run your own business around your other commitments.
